see the thing is,
life will always have challenges whether you sleep beneath a tree or in the loftiest palace,
whether you have a car or not,
it cares not about how ugly or pretty you are
as they say the grass is not always greener on the other side
you may look and envy them
but you did not see what they hid behind their smiles
you saw but the glitz during the day
nor the tears that cuddle them to sleep
or the pills that give them peace
you highlighted the darkness in yours against the brightness in theirs
had you compared your dark to their dark
jealousy would be a foreign word
envy a forgotten feeling
whoop whoop, hello to my dear readers
the big reveal is finally here, honestly trying to come up with a poem every week or month is a hassle and it drained me emotionally , since i need inspiration to write but there is something i have daily inspiration about which is writing on things yes ! i know how to rant in a peaceful and angry way because it can be triggered and i can go either way excessive happiness or sadness and the only way i release it by yes ‘writing ‘
we are going to call this the on series
so my non computer tech self will try her optimum best to design a new segment for this series insha Allah.
The series starts on 14th of may 2017 , this sunday that is
Todays topic is fake friends, have we not all had them ? yes high school brings about a time of insecurities, can we take a minute of silence for those still in high school ?, yes i got you high school people, hold on.
we all have had a fake friend at one point in our lives especially when we thought that being popular was all that mattered, and having friends in that popular circle of friends in school was our life achievement, we wanted to be that it girl and cheerleader, or perhaps you wanted to be that jock football player, well you guessed it right i was a nerd which was not cool, in school i wanted to have friends and be popular, but i just could not discontinue my introverted nature,.
so you probably guessed i had to move on and continue being my unpopular nerd self, that slept at home throughout the weekend, while studying chemistry or watching tv alone obviously, i did not have anywhere to go, so of course i tried making friends in school, i did come across so many fake people that pretend to be your friends sometimes while they really were taking advantage of your kindness.
and yes piece of advice don’t always be afraid to say no to helping people, i always thought that being unkind towards people was not going to get me friends, lets just say i was too naive for my own good, but towards the end of high school, of course i started improving, but back then i took it upon myself to treat people too kindly by offering up what ever they asked me to help them with.
In essence we all go through that phase in our life but trust me you don’t have to be popular in school, because once high school is over it doesn’t really matter because nobody cares about how popular you were in high school, and lets be real, no shade popular people don’t usually make it later in life, sometimes because of the popularity thing, they don’t study and therefore don’t pass or graduate on time.
Now with all that being said, you don’t really need to be popular, a couple of genuine friends is all that you need, study well and pass with good grades, high school will be over in a few years and that is a very small portion of your life.
Once you realise someone is a fake friend, take them out of your life, because you don’t need that much negativity in your life, the most important thing to know is that you may never see some high school friends again in your lifetime because once you go to college, everything changes as you become more focused on your life or career.
Ofcourse there is also the bullying issue, if you would like me to do a post on bullying comment down below, thank you for reading and
We all have seen black models before, Tyra Banks, Naomi Campbell and my favourite Iman, so what is special about lupita you may ask ? well Lupita is a classic black woman, no shade here but most other black models with the exception of Iman have white ish features and straightened hair or wigs, infact most of them are mixed or not very dark skinned, Lupita is that model that is very African, as dark as we come and can we talk about that glow for a minute here ?
Lupita has inspired many dark skinned women of colour to embrace their natural complexion, lets be honest Vogue has never had a woman as dark as Lupita on their cover, if and when they did have a black woman, she was either mixed or light skinned with the straight nose and thin to average lips, which does not really speak to many women of colour especially black women.
She does exude that confidence and allure which many dark women of colour lack due to the age old “the lighter the better” we have instilled into our minds, no longer are we in those days when being a light skinned black woman or man was the best thing that could happen to you as you were perceived more beautiful than your darker counterparts, ever since Lupita won an oscar she gave hope to other darker women that yes we could also make it in the ‘closer to white’ dominated industry of fashion and Hollywood in general’
Lastly can we just talk about her kiny hair, most black women in Hollywood who wear their hair natural usually have looser curl textures or “good hair” as we have come to know it and if they happened to not have those beautiful curls, they go for the creamy crack, wigs or the straightened natural hair, she looks absolutely stunning
I did notice that after her Oscar award winning, the media was trying to prove that Lupita was beautiful, but i dont need to be convinced, do you glow more than Lupita ? if not have your seat because we all know she is beautiful, smart, Educated and well spoken in essence the whole package, we have seen celebrities who cant read well or mess up their speeches that were written for them.
Can we also appreciate Lupita for always talking about her African ness and how many times she visits Kenya or talks about her life in Kenya, No shade but i know many black people who go to any extent to deny their African roots, Lupita could have claimed America and left Kenya behind after her new found fame, but she did not infact she has even brought kenya and Africa closer to her.
Ladies and gentlemen bask in the after glow of the Lupita effect and be wowed.

My long lost friend contacted me last week
The friend that was wiped out of my earth
the friend who was not on the same continent as me
my friend who I last saw in 2013
friends for almost a decade
our bond is strong I’d say
we clicked and continued
as though we had been living in the same room
for the last two years
The one person I thought had forgotten me
the person I missed on lonely nights
of insomnia and sleeplessness
Oh if only Sameera charged her phone

Admit it we all live monotonous lives no matter how much drama you try to create (sorry not really) i mean the amount of spice you add into your favourite stew, perhaps you chose a different way to school or work, maybe changed your breakfast yesterday and decided to go out with a different friend next week, well your life is most likely still monotonous

You still brush your teeth every morning and night, I still shower everyday in the same bathroom, eat food with same staples yet different spices or cooking methods, so I’ve decided to pack up and leave…………“lol” i used to hate this word and a poem about it will most likely be up around next week inshAllah and my adventures at cake decorating and driving lessons with my unpaid teacher AYA.
